Spring Flowers
Today we are going to make some spring flowers on a sunset background!
Materials:
1. Construction Paper for your background
2. Pipe cleaners (you only need one pipe cleaner per flower)
3. Clay
4. About 7 cotton swabs (use more of you need it)
5. Scissors
6. Glue
Step 1:
Gather your materials.
Take your cotton swabs and align them. Then, cut them down the middle. There should now be more tips then you started with and they should be smaller. Note: if you are having a hard time cutting them all at once you can cut them individually.
Take a small part of your clay and roll it into a small ball. Then, slightly press down the clay ball so it gets a little bit flatter, but you don't want it too flat.
Take a small cotton swab that you cut in half in step 2 and stick the end without the cotton into the clay. Push it in enough that it wont come out, but not too much that it goes through the other side. Do the same with the other swabs and space them out so there is a little bit of gap between each cotton swab. Good job! you have now made the main part of your flower.
Place your amazing clay and cotton swab creation to the side. Then, take one pipe cleaner and cut it just above the middle. You don't want to split it in half because you want one part to be longer than the other.
Step 6: Take the small part of your pipe cleaner that you cut and bend it so it forms a U shape. This will be the leaf of your flower. Take the long pipe cleaner part and stick it into the clay part of the flower in one of the gaps between the cotton swabs. Once it is secure, take the leaf you made and attach it to the stem by twisting the end of the u around the stem. You want the leaf to be in the middle.
Step 7: If you want to, you can make another flower by repeating the process. You can even change it up and make another fun color!
Step 8: This step is only if you want many different colors of construction paper as your back ground. If you want one solid color you can skip this step and the next one. If you are using many different colors, take your scissors and cut a thick strip of each color of paper.
Step 9: Take your strips of different colored paper and glue them together to construct your background.
