Paper Jellyfish

Today we are making Paper Jellyfish!

Step 1: Gather materials

(this tutorial shows 2 different jellyfish made side by side)

For ONE jellyfish
  • One 8 x 11 printer paper sheet
  • 2 pieces of colored construction paper (can be same or different colors)
  • Black marker
  • Colored pencils
  • Scissors
Step 2: Draw Jellyfish head

Draw the curve of the jellyfish's head

Add in a scalloped edge to complete the top of the jellyfish

Step 3: Add in details

Add in eyeballs as large ovals, and draw the pupils as circles. Color the circles!

Add in a small/large smile! :)

Step 4: Decorate the Jellyfish head!

Grab the colors you want, preferably 2-4 different colors.

Cover your jellyfish in a solid color, stripes, polka dots, or ANYTHING you want!

Step 5: Cut out your jellyfish

You can bubble cut (leave a ring of white) or cut exactly along the black edges.

Step 6: Make paper tentacles

Grab the 2 sheets of colored paper you chose earlier on. Cut each of the paper into strips. You will have about 6 strips from each paper. In total, you should have 12 strips.

6 strips of each color are pictured above

Now we will make the paper rings!

Repeat this process to make 3 tentacles, each tentacle created by 4 paper strips.

You can choose to alternate colors, or create a gradient. Or even use the same color!

Step 7: Create a Jellyfish :)

Tape the three tentacles to the back of the jellyfish head.

Now you created your first ever jellyfish! Feel free to make it again with different colors! Enjoy :)
